Les premières lignes du réseau départemental des Côtes Du Nord (CDN) furent ouvertes en 1905. Sa construction fut confiée à l'ingénieur des Ponts et Chaussées Harel de la Noë, né à Saint-Brieuc en 1852. Le réseau était à voie métrique, et fut construit en deux périodes. Le premier réseau desservait notamment les régions côtières du département, ce qui nécessita de nombreux ouvrages d'art, pour lesquels Harel de la Noë utilisa une technique nouvelle pour l'époque : le béton armé. / In 1905, a new railway has been built in the "Cotes du Nord" department, by Mr Harel de la Noe, born at St Brieuc in 1852, and engineer graduate from Polytechnique and Ponts et Chaussées school. The railway has been built with a 1m gauge track, in 2 phases: the 1st for some lines near the seaside, for which Mr De la Noe has built many wonderfull viaducs, using for the 1st time ferroconcrete.
Devant le succès de ce premier réseau, il fut décidé ensuite la construction d'un deuxième réseau. A son apogée, les CDN auront 452 km, l'un des plus importants de France. Le centre du réseau était Saint Brieuc. / After the construction of the 2nd reseau, the CDN railway was one of the most important local railway in France, with about 450 Kms. The center of the railway was at St Brieuc.
Les premières lignes a être fermées le furent en 1936, la dernière fut St Brieuc - Paimpol, abandonnée en 1956. / From 1936 to 1956, the various lines has been abandonned; the last one has been the line St Brieuc - Paimpol.

La route MSTS représente une partie de la ligne St Brieuc - Paimpol des CDN, en fait le tronçon Binic - Paimpol, et aussi le début de la ligne RB (Réseau Breton) Paimpol - Guigamp (jusqu'à Trieux). Ce tronçon Paimpol - Trieux est à 3 files de rail (configuration avant 1953: écartement métrique et standard). La version 2 ajoute Binic - St Brieuc / The MSTS route reproduces a part of the line St-Brieuc - Paimpol (from Binic to Paimpol). It also includes a part of the RB (Reseau Breton) line Paimpol - Guimgamp (from Paimpol to Trieux), as it was before 1953: with 3 rails (both standard and metric gauge).Version 2 adds Binic-St Brieuc
La route est censée reproduire l'année 1953 environ (avec 2 anachronismes pour la V2: Lezardrieux et Le Legue n'existaient plus en 53). / The period is 1953 (sorry for Lezardrieux and le Legue in V2, which has been abandonned before this period).
